HANNA's Bismark Mountain Ranch is high above the City of Sonoma and San Pablo Bay.  The unique terroir is both fierce and alluring. The 2013 growing season was a much drier version of 2012, with slightly warmer temperatures as well. Despite the early bud break, frost was not an issue in the spring. The peak summer months were moderate, resulting in steady ripening, good acid retention and intense flavor development.

The Bismark Mountain Ranch is high above the city of Sonoma and San Pablo Bay.  Here on the southwestern flanks of the Mayacamas Mountains we grow 27 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon amid outcroppings of Rhyolite.  HANNA began planting in 1991, and continue to fine tune the mix of cultivars to this day.  This is vineyard has steep ground; shared with Creosote bush, Digger pine, coyote and mountain lion. Windy, and surprisingly cool, Bismark grudgingly produces grapes with an intense, deeply concentrated flavor. Bismark’s unique terroir is both fierce and alluring. The 2012 growing season was the most moderate in the past five years. Mild spring weather was conducive to outstanding fruit set, and a consistently warm, dry summer permitted the grapes to size-up and steadily ripen. A heat spike in early October pushed the ripeness envelope.

Hanna's Bismark Mountain Ranch is high above the City of Sonoma and San Pablo Bay.  The climate is windy and surprisingly cool which produces grapes with intense, deeply concentrated flavor.  The unique terroir is both fierce and alluring. The 2007 season marked a return to near normalcy after the remarkably challenging 2006 vintage. A dry winter and spring were followed by a moderate June and July and early August.  Bud break was early, and disease pressure was low. Frost was absent, and as a result we entered summer with very dry ground. An August heat spike had winemakers talking about plummeting acids and early harvest. Overall, the fruit was evenly ripened and very clean.
