Tom Rochioli was enlightened during a trip to Burgundy (Romanée-Conti) where he tasted wines that clearly showed the unique qualities of separate vineyard lots and single varieties.  With this experience, Tom and Joe Jr.  worked together to develop an intimate knowledge of their vineyard’s soil and climate variation.  Today, the vineyard is divided into unique blocks, each dedicated to numerous clones.

Estate Wine Sourcing

Pinot Noir:  The majority of the grapes for this wine are from the Sweetwater Vineyard. The balance is from the many different vineyard sites, including the new planting of West Block. The wine possesses typical Rochioli character and classic Russian River Valley charm with black cherry and spice aromas.

Sauvignon Blanc:  For this wine, 44% is from the original Sauvignon Blanc vineyard planted in 1959, 24% is from a twenty-five year old hillside vineyard and 32% is from the Rochioli’s newest planting of a very special and rare clone.

Chardonnay:  The blend consists of 65% Mid-40 and 35% percent River Block. It is a fine example of the unique characteristics from the property and the Russian River Valley.
