Rutherford Hill's grape sourcing has also undergone a significant, beneficial evolution. Today, the winery sources premium fruit from a network of meticulously selected Napa Valley grape growers. These chosen growers share the winery's commitment to quality and intelligent farming practices.  Rutherford Hill also utilizes fruit grown on a 60-acres, estate-owned vineyard, Mee Lane, in the Rutherford appellation. In addition to this estate-owned vineyard, Rutherford Hill has another 130 acres under a controlling lease.

D'Adamo Vineyard
This is a first production Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard located just north of the town of Napa. The hillside vineyard has a western exposure with excellent chalky soils. The location, in the Oak Knoll, is considered to be exceptional for Cabernet and provides great extraction and intense berry flavor.

Gargiulo Vineyard
Rutherford Hill winemakers characterize this 30-acre Merlot vineyard in the Oakville Appellation off Skellenger Lane as a "high-tech" vineyard. Considerable resources have been invested in extensive drainage, elaborate trellising and meticulous viticultural practices. There are four different Merlot clones (French 181, Italian 314, Stag's Leap and Three Palms) planted on three different rootstocks in clay-loam soils that are superbly drained. First harvest: 1999.

Larkmead Vineyard
1997 marked Rutherford Hill's first harvest from this vineyard located just South of Calistoga near Three Palms Vineyard. This 8.4-acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard yielded 2,600 cases and produces grapes that provide fruit flavors distinctive of the Cabernet varietal.

Selby Creek
Located across the street from Three Palms Vineyard, this high quality, low yielding Cabernet Franc and Merlot Vineyard will be a great addition to Rutherford Hill's Reserve program. The vineyard was planted in 1991 on alluvial soils and produced some of our best Cabernet Franc in the 1998 harvest.

Stagecoach Vineyard
Rutherford Hill's winemakers were thrilled with the quality from the first, small crop in 1998 and are anxious to work with a more sizeable crop in 1999. Four different red Bordeaux varietals are under cultivation on 70 acres, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. This vineyard, located in the Atlas Peak area at 1,400 foot elevations, will fully mature around 2003 and yield an anticipated 18,000 cases. Big, rich, full-bodied fruit flavors are expected from this prime location.
