Proprietor’s Blend is a wine that bears testimony to the unique terroir of the Ernie Els vineyards; it reflects both the quality and diversity of the property as a whole. This wine is a blend of all the six red varieties cultivated on the property: Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. These vineyards grow on the warm, north-facing slopes of the Helderberg region within the Stellenbosch appellation. 2015 Proprietor’s Blend is bold and invigorating from start to finish. This Bordeaux blend with the addition of Shiraz offers a balance of seamless structure and elegant generosity.

Black core with a deeply rich hue.
Aroma
Notes of sweet black and blueberries dance on the nose. With time, floral aromatics are coaxed from the glass.
Taste
Big wine with notes of fresh organum, dried sage and roast beef gravy give generosity and depth, with the sweet fruit running from start to a long finish.

Each variety is matured separately in oak barrels before blending and eventual bottling. Aged for 18 months, 70% in French oak barrels and 30% in American oak.

Aroma
Dark blue fruits, a hint of bacon, espresso and fig jam abound the nose. Classy oak notes and a touch of truffle further tussle with the amazing fruit purity.
Taste
The palate shows fleshy tannins, a rock-solid core, and towering structure. The Shiraz adds a spicy, complex, and exotic edge, and the remaining Bordeaux varieties give finesse and depth. Sugar coated blueberries line the intense finish.

The strong Cabernet Sauvignon influence adds a salty liquorice attack following to cassis, grilled herbs and meaty edge from the dollop of Shiraz. Though full-bodied and rich, the mid-palate is fine and lively, leading to a polished, sweet-fruited finish.
