Terlato Wines Enters Long-term Partnership with New Zealand’s Loveblock Vintners
Lake Bluff, Ill.

Adding to its world-class international luxury wine portfolio, Terlato Wines today announced an exclusive, long-term agreement with Loveblock Vintners, a newly established New Zealand wine company.

“We are thrilled to reach this agreement to market the Loveblock brand,” said Terlato Wines CEO William A. Terlato. “Loveblock’s founder and CEO, Erica, and winemaker Kim Crawford are a formidable pair with a proven track record of producing and marketing outstanding wines from New Zealand. As they embark on their new wine venture, we believe our partnership offers the strongest opportunity to replicate their success in the U.S. market with their new Loveblock wines.”

Erica and Kim began making wine under their own label in 1996 and have since sold that business. They have steadily acquired a number of prime vineyards in Marlborough’s Waihopai and Awatere Valleys. Three-hundred acres of farmland have been converted to Organic in the Awatere Valley, with about 170 acres of that under vine. More recently, they have bought a block on the Bendigo Loop in Central Otago, focusing exclusively on Pinot Noir.

”We are doing it quite differently this time around, farming our land by employing Biodynamic and Organic practice. We have a deeply held belief that we need to make the very best wine we can while ensuring soil balance, endurance and diversity of the land. The character and health of these grapes is the quality foundation of the Loveblock offerings,” said Erica. “We have one of the largest organic vineyards in New Zealand, and it is a joy to see how the soil and the rhythm of the land have really changed. This time we do it for love, not for sale!”

Terlato Wines will import and market a selection of wines from Loveblock Vintners, focusing on New Zealand’s iconic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Pinot Noir and the emerging New Zealand varietal Pinot Gris.

“We have previously had a great deal of success in the U.S. market with our wines, Erica said. With our Loveblock wines, Kim and I were looking for a partner who has the commitment, expertise and discipline in understanding and marketing fine wines. This led us to the Terlato family. They’re the perfect partner, given their leadership position and record of success in luxury wines. They understand the challenges small producers face and are a true wine family that shares our vision of how great wines should be crafted and presented to the market.”

“The re-entry of Erica and Kim to the U.S. market with their Loveblock wines is exciting news,” Bill Terlato said. “We believe our team effort in support of Loveblock will strengthen the already positive perception of New Zealand wines for today’s luxury wine consumer. Loveblock Vintners will join our existing New Zealand portfolio, which is showing excellent growth, and gives us a broader footprint in which to lead the luxury wine segment for this emerging New World appellation.”
