Bollinger's connection to its 30 vineyards, all in the department of the Marne, home of Champagne’s noble vineyard sites, called crus, dates to 1650. Today, after generations of careful acquisition, Champagne Bollinger holds today 399 acres, of which 12 are grands and 16 are premiers crus. The vineyards are planted primarily to pinot noir, the grape that yields the structure and complexity that typify all of Bollinger's wines. With its vineyards accounting for nearly two-thirds of its production, Champagne Bollinger can guarantee the quality and continuity of its Champagnes year after year.

Ownership:
From its founding in 1829 until today, six generations of the Bollinger family have taken personal responsibility for every bottle of Champagne that leaves their cellars. Today, Ghislain Montgolfier, the great grandson of founder Jacques Joeseph, is president of Champagne Bollinger. Société Jacques Bollinger, the family holding company of Champagne Bollinger, oversees operations of Domaine Chanson Père & Fils, one of the five great houses of Burgnundy, and Langlois-Château in the Loire Valley, makers of superb sparkling and still wines. Both are also marketed in the United States by Paterno Wines International.
