Gomersal Ebenezer Grenache/Mataro
2011
2011

Twelftree Wines is an exclusive selection of six wines handmade by Michael Twelftree on a very small scale, using a blend of new and traditional techniques to maintain the purity of the grape variety and showcase regional characteristics. The Mataro is from younger vines set on a CSP trellis in the Ebenezer sub-region of Barossa. What is interesting about this vineyard is that it is based on a thick layer of sand, as most of Ebenezer is on dark red clay. The lift and fine tannins are provided by the sand and it is a great wine to share at the table.

Wine Notes
Color
Deep black to cherry red in color.
Aroma
A bouquet of mint, cedar, liquorice, tar, blood plums, dried rose and roasted meats waft from the glass.
Taste
The palate has great grip and density, amazingly light on its feet as it floats along to the juicy late palate that rolls on and on ever so gently. Has a clean finish and the fruit emerges evenly across the palate.
