Elevage Blanc
2014
2014

The Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris grapes that comprise this blend are sourced exclusively from our vineyard in Rutherford. Elevage Blanc, honors the style of the great Bordeaux whites.  Sauvignon Gris, a rarely planted relative of Sauvignon Blanc, provides beautiful aromatics and texture as blending grape. This unique combination challenges the typical conception of a white wine, creating a white wine for the red wine drinker.

The 2014 vintage was one of the earliest and warmest on record.   Small berries and balanced yields produced grapes that were extraordinary in quality.  Modeled after the great white wines of Bordeaux, both the Sauvignon Blanc and the Sauvignon Gris grapes were whole- cluster pressed gently and barrel fermented in one third new French Oak, one third used French Oak, and one third stainless steel barrels with meticulous stirring of the lees.  The wine aged in these vessels for six months as it absorbed the richness of the lees.  It is a complex white wine, with depth and great potential for ageing but is enjoyable to drink now.
