Established in 1978, the Rose family estate vineyards are situated on the banks of the Wairau River (pronounced "why-raow"). Pioneers in the Marlborough region, the Roses selected only the best sites for their vineyards, with the goal of producing wines that characteristically express the essence of the terroir. The fruit is hand-tended in small batches from vine to bottle to produce premium wines renowned for their intense fruit characteristics and classical elegance. Wairau River Winery is still family-owned today and is one of the largest independent wine estates in Marlborough.
